Welcome to our September E-Newsletter!

 
Back to School / New School - We hope it was relatively pain free!!

We are now finalising our application for our feasibility study grant. The success of this application is critical if we are to maintain our timeline for opening the hub, we will of course keep you posted!

Our next 
express coffee morning is on Wednesday 1st October at The Rose Theatre Kingston, please book as soon as possible, these do reach capacity very quickly.

Below are details of our art groups one for young people with Autism and one for siblings. The groups start on Tuesday 30th September for Siblings and Wednesday 1st October for art therapy. There are limited spaces available so please do email us on info@expresscic.org.uk if you would like more details. 


 
We wanted to give a HUGE thank you to Joe Hewlett from M&S Tolworth who on 13th September completed the 100km Thamespath Challenge for express, Joe completed the challenge in 20 hours, 35 minutes!! Thank you to all those who have already sponsored Joe. If you would like to you can still sponsor Joe until 26th Sept. at www.localgiving.com/joehewlett

Express Yourself provides a space for children on the autism spectrum to interact and connect with others in a fun, supportive environment. The group aims to meet the specific and unique social and emotional needs of children with autism using creative tools such as drama, puppetry, art, music and storytelling. If you are interested in joining these groups please do email us at info@expresscic.org.uk for more details.
 
Sibs @ Express is a group for children who have a brother or sister with autism to come together, make new friends and have a space to share their feelings. If you are interested in joining these groups please do email us atinfo@expresscic.org.uk for more details.
 
Express Support Groups
Bi monthly (dates via newsletter) at The Rose Theatre 11:00-12:30pm
First Thursday of the month at Surbiton Children's Centre 7:30-9:00pm
Last Tuesday of the month at Moor Lane Centre 1:00-2:30pm

Hear our 'audioboos' - chatting to Sorrel at KVA for their Impact Aloud feature :) and listen to Max one of our youth panel advisors.Open days at Ambitious College for both parents/carers and professionals. The next open days are:
Parents/Carers
  • Thursday 25 September 2014, 12pm - 2pm
Professionals/Commissioners
  • Tuesday 23 September 2014, 2pm - 4pm
  • Wednesday 24 September 2014, 10am - 12pm

LEAD Kingston ( Parent Participation group for parents of children or young people with a disability in Kingston) have booked out the Moor Lane Playground and facilities on the 4th October 3.30-5.30 to enable Kingston families to meet, & pick up the latest information on the changes to Special Educational Needs and Disability support. Please contact Jane Mitchell at Enhanceable Children's Services on02085476201 or 07947470294 to register to attend.

Fundraising for Express


Following on from Joe Hewlett's amazing 100KM WALK - If you are up for a challenge you can sign up at www.actionchallenge.com/challenges Express is already registered for the Thamespath and Isle of Wight Challenges but you can sign up for whatever you fancy having a go at and select us as your cause. Please do let us know and we can send you the link to set up a fundraiser page linked to us on local giving.

 
Help Express whilst shopping? It couldn't be easier! Retailers such as Amazon, John Lewis, Argos etc.. registered with the site will donate a % of your spend to your cause at no expense to you! Register with Easyfundraising select Express CIC as your cause and then proceed as usual to do your online shopping via their links. With Christmas fast approaching (sorry but it is...) it could make a real difference to the groups we are able to run and in supporting our efforts to establish the hub. It takes just minutes to set up and you could get your Christmas shopping started early whilst helping us to support young people with autism and their families. Thank you!
