Independent Travel Training

“Achieving for Children offers an Independent Travel Training (ITT) service for young people who need some support in accessing public transport. This service is available to young people currently using special educational needs and disability (SEND) transport. We believe it's important to prepare young people for the future and help them access local communities independently via public transport.

This training will be delivered by two members of the Independent Travel Training Team. The workshop where we will discuss the benefits of the training and how we work with individuals, we will also offer our experience of working within the Borough for the past two years. We understand the barriers young people face in becoming independent and will discuss strategies to overcome these. We also explore how technology can assist and travel training and go through how to apply for zip cards or freedom cards.
